The Class
Pumpkin Vine Cooking School offers a unique programme where we visit schools/education facilities and deliver cooking classes to suit your centre.
Our focus is on healthy eating using seasonal, fresh, wholesome, nutritious foods, cooked and shared in a friendly environment.
WHAT WE DO
We work with children of kindergarten to teenage years and adults. The classes are provided by two instructors and are custom designed around the age and ability of the participants.
Maximum of 30 participants in a session.
The duration of each class is approximately 11/2 hours.
We request the assistance of parent volunteers of about 1 per every 5 children. This helps maximise the experience for every child.
WHAT THE PROGRAMME IS
The programme is totally hands on. The pleasure of cooking and eating fresh seasonal produce is the main focus of our programme. Healthy eating, food hygiene and table etiquette are all touched upon. Washing up at the end of classes is part of the programme.
Produce will vary with the season at the time of the classes. If the school has a garden, we will try to use it. If not, we will bring purchased ingredients and/or some mini gardens in boxes to supplement, just so the children can experience some harvesting.
Everything that is needed for the cooking class is supplied. This includes utensils for food preparation, cooking and washing up sufficient for 5 groups of 6 children or adults. Plates and cutlery are also provided.
All we ask schools to provide is tables in an undercover area plus access to water.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST
Schools usually treat our classes as an excursion within the school. Please call or email us for a quote.
NOTE
We have liability cover insurance to a maximum of 30 students. All parents/carers need to sign a disclaimer form prior to attendance. For detailed information telephone Grace 0401 662 302
